The holiday season is a great time to volunteer and reach out and help those in need. There are many community organizations in Newmarket and Aurora that need volunteers to prepare and serve holiday meals, collect and wrap gifts, visit the sick or elderly or just spread some holiday cheer. If you'd like to help, here are some ideas:

Town of Newmarket & Tim Hortons First Night

December 31st, 2009. From 2:30-9:30 p.m. 

Magna Centre, 800 Mulock Drive, Newmarket.

Volunteers will assist with set up/clean up, security, distributing glow bracelets, noise makers, hot chocolate, make ‘n take crafts, jumping castles & more.

Live Nativity Pageant: Presented by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and The Town Of Newmarket

December 24, 2009. 

Fairy Lake Park, Water Street, Newmarket.

Volunteers required from 6-8:30 p.m.

Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Program

November - December 2009.

Various locations around the Town of Aurora, such as LCBO, Beer Store, Superstore, Walmart and others. 
Volunteers are needed to for 2 hour shifts.

Neighbourhood Network recently hosted its first workshop for charities and non profit organizations entitled "How to Write a Winning Proposal." The workshop was a success with much learned and many positive comments from the organizations who attended.
